Earth - Home: Taiwan

18 - 21, July, 2024

"Earth" is a globe-like textile installation commissioned by curator Neal Yang for the Home: Taiwan exhibition in London. The Eastern and Western hemispheres are displayed on opposite walls, creating an interactive experience that connects individuals from diverse backgrounds who have come to London for various reasons.

Visitors are invited to engage with the piece by using provided art supplies to express their sense of home, identity, and belonging on paper. They can locate their hometowns on the installation, tie strings from there to London or to their newly identified “home” to symbolise their migration, and attach their personal notes to the strings.

Through deliberately blurring national borders during the making of the installation, the globe is reimagined to encourage visitors to engage with mindful observation and deeper reflection on personal and global connections.

"Earth" serves as both a celebration of cultural diversity and a meditation on the meaning of home. By weaving together personal stories and shared experiences, the installation fosters a sense of unity, inviting participants to reflect on the ties that bind us all.
